Welcome

Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am so honored by your visit today. My name is Kristi and I am married to my college sweetheart(I refer to him here as "Mr. Incredible"), momma to my 2 beautiful girls who are growing much too quickly, a high school computer teacher, photographer, and a gardener (at times~right now I'm growing weeds). I love to laugh, drink strong Starbucks coffee, take pictures, and be anywhere my family is. Jesus is my Savior and I try so hard to be the wife and momma that He has called me to be. I often fail but He lovingly picks me up, dusts me off, and encourages me that with Him all things are possible. Feel free to join me on this journey of faith, stop in and say hello, look around, and leave a comment~I love comments. Why "Kiki's Corner?" My nephews call me Aunt Kiki and I love that too.

A Bit of Randomness

Well, we are recovering from Pepe-Le Pew (as someone commented on my blog). There are faint smells in the air but it is so much better! What a fun adventure that was! I don't care to smell that ever, ever, ever again! And just in case you ever wonder, having a skunk spray all manner of tarnation in your garage is the best diet. You don't care to eat anything!
But, I wouldn't recommend it.

The phone rang late that stinkin' afternoon. It was my oldest nephew. His sweet voice said, "Aunt Kiki, the next time you have a skunk in your garage, just call me." Okay, sweet nephew, you're on, but I hope I never have a skunk visit my garage again. It's a no skunk zone! All little stinkers stay away!

Anyway, I can't believe it is Saturday already! Where does the time go? We just have 9 days before school begins and only 6 days until Living Proof Live in San Antonio. Hola Siestas!

Look what I received in the mail this week:

A beautiful frame that looks great in my kitchen.

(I think I'll save it for a picture of my girls on their first day of school)

and...

these adorable Thank You cards:

I had the blessing of being the winner in Nikki's drawing.

Aren't they cute? I think they are just adorable and I am so thrilled to have them.

Thank you, Nikki!

Last weekend we got to go to Rock the Desert. Here is Hawk Nelson:

and Switchfoot!

A sweet friend of Rachel's shared his backstage passes and they both got to ride a bus to the stage and actually sit on the stage while Switchfoot rocked out to songs like, "We were meant to live for so much more..." She was so excited!

I was also tagged by Amy. Here are some random things about me that you may not know:

  1. My favorite color is red.

  2. I like to baste myself (as Hannah calls it) with my favorite self tanner, St. Tropez. I gotta save my skin plus everything looks better with a tan. (I know Dad. There is probably something in Ecclesiastes about this, but it's really ok. :-) )

  3. I enjoy working in the yard. Really, I do. I look forward to mowing, diagonally is my favorite pattern. I just plug in my IPod and start mowing, weeding, and enjoying being with the Master Gardner and His beautiful creations.

  4. I am fiercely competitive. You may know this from my bowling fiasco. In the words of Nacho Libre, "I wanna win!" When I was in the fifth grade, I wanted to get my ears pierced. My Dad told me that I could get them pierced only after I scored 5 goals in my soccer season and after I read Ecclesiastes. I was the goalie and a full back. The odds were not that great. But, guess what? I did it and I have the holes in my ears to prove it. I have to add, it's not my fault that I am super competitive. I have super competitive parents, its in the genes, and I've proudly passed those genes on to my girls. Really, you can be super competitive and sweet at the same time. It's an art form.

  5. I drove an Indy car 149.81 mph and I got to drive 12 laps. So fun! I heart speed!

  6. I can't seem to get enough of the Olympics this week! Our family leapt off the couch when Michael Phelps and the guys won the first relay. There is so much patriotism and camaraderie. This is the best reality TV ever!
Oh yeah, and I dislike skunks!

So, now I'm going to tag: Kim, Erica (I just saw your 100th post-it was fabulous and I'm letting you off the hook :-) ), Melanie, Denise, Elizabeth, and you!

Name 6 random things about you.

Have a great weekend!

Kristi...thanks for dropping by my recipe blog. I use the roasted tomato sauce as is...just cook angel hair spaghetti and I usually warm the sauce in the microwave and just mix it all together when the sauce is warm and the spaghetti done. It has a great fresh flavor.

I also did some dried cherry tomatoes the other day in the oven. I split them down the middle, put them cut side up on a cookie sheet that I lined with parchment paper and put them in a 250 degree oven for a couple of hours...some may take longer...and let them dry out a little. They were really sweet and I could have eaten them all right then as a snack! I let them cool completely and then put them in freezer bags and put them in the freezer. They can be put in soups and stir-frys later on. Hope you'll enjoy them!

I always heard that tomato juice would take away the smell of skunk on a dog but never had to test the theory! lol

Hi Kristi! I'm so glad that you received your goodies in the mail. It was so sweet of you to post them on your blog.

I'm glad your critter is gone, I had a friend in high school that had a pet skunk! He couldn't spray though.

I just love you! How much fun your family has! Those prizes you won were very cute. I don't know how you picked, though, b/c her choices were really great.
Do you all have any back to school traditions? I would love to hear about them...
