Welcome

Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am so honored by your visit today. My name is Kristi and I am married to my college sweetheart(I refer to him here as "Mr. Incredible"), momma to my 2 beautiful girls who are growing much too quickly, a high school computer teacher, photographer, and a gardener (at times~right now I'm growing weeds). I love to laugh, drink strong Starbucks coffee, take pictures, and be anywhere my family is. Jesus is my Savior and I try so hard to be the wife and momma that He has called me to be. I often fail but He lovingly picks me up, dusts me off, and encourages me that with Him all things are possible. Feel free to join me on this journey of faith, stop in and say hello, look around, and leave a comment~I love comments. Why "Kiki's Corner?" My nephews call me Aunt Kiki and I love that too.

"H" Family {A Sneak Peek}

What fun to capture this family! It was my joy to capture their first family pictures together! I hope this dad is ready; his girls are all gorgeous. Happy Honeymoon you two and happy life to all of you! Thank you for the blessing of capturing you!

Happy Wednesday

This video cracks me up! I simply had to share. Enjoy!!

Creating Your Statement Wall

One of my most favorite parts (and yes, I have many favorite parts) of my photography business is designing custom Statement Gallery Walls for my clients. Honestly, seeing images that I was blessed to take on my client's walls fills me with joy!  And hearing my clients tell me how much they enjoy gazing at their Statement Gallery Walls every time they walk past their images thrills me!

I know how they feel!  Every time I walk past my Statement Wall of my girls in my living room, I smile.  My Statement Wall has an image of my girls together when our Hannah was born and an image of my girls as teenagers.  I'm tearing up just writing this post. {sigh!} Time flies way too quickly, where have the years gone?  Our Rachel is now in college and I look at my Statement Gallery Wall even more when she is at school.  Why? Because I miss her like crazy and long for the weekends and summers (yay!) when she is back home with us.  I like my nest to have all of my loves safe and sound inside. Can you relate?

A house really does become a home when photography is on the walls.

I adore this family! What a blessing to capture their newborn baby girl with her adoring Big Brother and Big Sister.  These images are precious and so is the love connection represented in each image.  I smile every time I look at them...and I'm just the photographer.  To me, there is love captured and pure joy represented in each image.  I can almost imagine the incredible memories these three are going to make growing up together...and if I listen really hard, I can almost hear the giggles abounding.

When you are planning a Statement Gallery Wall....

Make sure it makes a statement.  While the one image is beautiful on this wall, the wow factor is all five images together.

Seriously, it takes my breath away.  I adore this Statement Wall!  I created 4 different Statement Wall ideas for my client.  I am so thankful I am not the one having to make the choice.  I like them all. And as a mom, I know their gorgeous mommy is going to one day be standing, gazing at her babies, and be like me wondering where the time has gone.  Oh if these images had smell-a-vision too! There is nothing quite like the smell of our newborn babies, is there?

Yes, photography is expensive...it seems most things worth having these days are too.  My Statement Wall is priceless to me...and I am positive this Statement Wall will be to these parents too.  Precious newborns only stay little for such a short time....but so do our children.

Images to Treasure....what a blessing!

Now you are off to look at your walls, aren't you?  Me too, I think I have a new Statement Wall in mind.  If you are thinking that too, I would love the blessing of being the photographer to capture your Images to Treasure.  I have only 9 Saturday sessions remaining until January, and limited sessions this summer....but as always will try to find the perfect date to capture you!  You may email me {kristi@kikiscornerphotography.com} or visit my website (www.kikiscornerphotography.com) and fill out the Inquiry Form.

Thank you for dropping by my little corner of the world today.  Have a blessed day filled to overflowing with absolute joy!

Do You Ikea?

My Office is in serious need of organizing....again! {Sigh!} It's the one room in my house (okay my walk-in prop closet needs help too) that only I dare to go! Can anyone relate?

My disaster of an office has been weighing me down lately but I can't seem to find the time or the desire to get organizing.  We had our cabinet maker price extending the shelves and building more built ins around my photography needs but I would rather go on vacation than upgrade my cabinets right now.  Oiy!

What to do, what to do?  And then an Ikea ad appeared in my inbox.  Ikea? Ahhhh,  I like the idea of Ikea, I certainly like their advertised prices, but I've never been.  I think Ikea and I need to meet.  :-)

So help this girl out and please tell me: Have you been to Ikea?  What did you buy?  Do I need to bring a trailer when we go?  I hear that it can be an all day affair and that they even offer childcare....does that include husbands too?  Ha!!!  Just kidding.

If you Ikea, do you have any tips?  The catalog itself looks a bit overwhelming.

Silhouette

When I noticed that Rock the Shot's Challenge this month was Silhouette, I thought of one of my favorite images:

My favorite comments from friends of this family include, "This is so them," and, "I knew exactly who this was when I saw this image," and, "You captured them perfectly!" Wow! I love those kind of comments.

This image was one of the last images we took during their always fun family session. The sun was setting, the light was a beautiful warm glow, and the cowboy hats were perfection against the backdrop of the setting sun. I love this image so much that I had a metallic standout made from this image for my studio. And most of all I love it that this family loves this image!

I'm linking this post with http://www.rocktheshotforum.com/ where you can see so many more incredible silhouette images.

The "Wh" Family {A Sneak Peek}

This sweet family braved the extremely hot and windy weather for a four-generation family session and I am so glad that they did.  Four generations~wow!

Sweet Sister moment captured:

The Great-Grands with their Great-Grandson. This makes me wish I had more images of my girls with their great-grandparents!

Tender moment:

I smile every time I look at this next image.  I simply asked them to please hold hands and then this happened.  So sweet!

Can you tell this little guy was happy in his great-grandmother's arms and flashing sweet smiles to his mommy?

Thoughts From This Teacher's Heart: It's Time for Summer

Let me preface this post by saying that I truly love being a high school teacher (most days).  I learn just as much from my students as they learn from me (hopefully).  Teaching is a gift from the Lord and my prayer each day is that He somehow shines through me and that his love spills over and on to my students.

But, all of the state testing and all of the festivities and activities and banquets of Spring have left me ready for a break.  And I'm not the only one; my students are counting the days too!

And this post is meant to bring a smile to the many teachers who just might need a laugh today too.  Hang in there....we are almost there!

Oh yes! Bring on the Summer!  Please!!!

And lately, this is how I feel:

And before my summer break begins, I should probably order this shirt.  Ha!  Not for my family, of course.

And I post this annually, but is always worth repeating:

Jeff Foxworthy on School Employees

YOU might be a school employee if you believe the playground should be equipped with a Ritalin salt lick. (Remember I didn't write these...Jeff Foxworthy did).

YOU might be a school employee if you want to slap the next person who says, 'Must be nice to work 8 to 3:30 and have summers off.

YOU might be a school employee if it is difficult to name your own child because there's no name you can come up with that doesn't bring high blood pressure as it is uttered.

YOU might be a school employee if you can tell it's a full moon or if it's going to rain, snow, hail....anything!!! without ever looking outside.

YOU might be a school employee if you believe, 'shallow gene pool' should have its own box on a report card.

YOU might be a school employee if when out in public, you feel the urge to snap your fingers at children you do not know and correct their behavior.

YOU might be a school employee if you have no social life between August and June. YOU might be a school employee if you think people should have a government permit before being allowed to reproduce.

YOU might be a school employee if you wonder how some parents MANAGED to reproduce.

YOU might be a school employee if you laugh uncontrollably when people refer to the staff room as the 'lounge.'

YOU might be a school employee if you encourage an obnoxious parent to check into charter schools or home schooling and are willing to donate the U-HAUL boxes should they decided to move.

YOU might be a school employee if you think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.

YOU might be a school employee if you can't imagine how the ACLU could think that covering your students chair with Velcro and then requiring uniforms made out of the corresponding Velcro could ever be misunderstood by the public.

YOU might be a school employee if meeting a child's parent instantly answers this question, 'Why is this kid like this?'

YOU might be a school employee if you would choose a mammogram over a parent conference. (Today, I actually could make this choice~oiy!)

YOU might be a school employee if you think someone should invent antibacterial pencils and crayons...and desks and chairs for that matter!

YOU might be a school employee if you know how many minutes, and seconds, are left in the school year!

Here is another list from Jeff Foxworthy.

You know you're a teacher when....

1. You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to the child out of line.

2. You get a secret thrill out of laminating something (that is so true!)

3. You walk into a store and hear the words "It's Ms/Mr. _________" and know you have been spotted. (and its usually when I don't have my hair fixed or my makeup on....oiy!)

4. You have 25 people that accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or another. (This happens ALL the time~even in high school!)

5. You can eat a multi-course meal in under twenty-five minutes.

6. You've trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of the day: lunch and prep period. (So true...so true!)

7. You start saving other people's trash, because most likely, you can use that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the classroom. (or VBS~right Mom?)

8. You believe the teachers' lounge should be equipped with a margarita machine.

9. You want to slap the next person who says "Must be nice to work 7 to 3 and have summers off."

10. You believe chocolate is a food group.

11. You can tell if it's a full moon without ever looking outside.

12. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says "Boy, the kids sure are mellow today."

13. You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior when you are out in public. (I totally do this!)
14. You believe in aerial spraying of Ritalin.

15. You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form. (Come on Starbucks!)

16. You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own children. (I disagree with this one)

17. You can't pass the school supply aisle without getting at least five items!

18. You ask your friends if the left hand turn he just made was a "good choice or a bad choice."

19. You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils

20. You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer and finally,

21. You understand instantaneously why a child behaves a certain way after meeting his or her parents. (You know the old saying the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree!)

I'll Admit it!

I am a fan of Duck Dynasty...and so is my family! We even introduced my parents to the show this past summer.  I have to admit, I really didn't want to like the show, but I am a fan now!  And I miss DD while they are on break.

Admit it, you watch it too, right?!  Si is my favorite.  Who is your favorite?  I heard that Si almost wasn't in the show. I cannot imagine him not being in the show.  Can you? Maybe I need to read the Duck Commander book.

Our Rachel had the blessing of ministering in Florida at Beach Reach over Spring Break.  Most of my days on spring break, I sleep in and simply enjoy my break. This year, we stayed up till the wee hours of the morning praying as our daughter and thousands others ministered to the college crowd during Spring Break.

Rachel would text us the first names of people she was able to visit with and asked us to pray.  We weren't with her physically, but we were in spirit!  What an incredible week she had. What a blessing to serve!

It wasn't all work though.  Look where she got to visit on her way back to Texas:

Rachel texted us this image from the long van trip home. She was so excited! Fun times!

Horned Toad

As Hannah and were on our way to a quick indoor photo session, I spotted this little guy on our driveway:

It's not every day we get to see a Horned Toad.  Have you ever seen one before?  This was the second one I have seen in the past week.  They are so cool!

They remind me of little dinosaurs.  God is so creative! Just look at all of the details!

A cold front was headed our way, dropping our temperatures about 40 degrees, and this guy was looking for warmth and shelter.  On second glance, he isn't so little, is he?

He has a new home in my front flower beds.  I hope he was able to stay warm as our temperatures dipped into the upper 30's.  We went from 100 to a high of 48.  Wow!

Happy Mother's Day

So many memories flood my mind this morning! I am blessed with the most incredible mom! Not only do I treasure her as my mom, but as my friend, my favorite Pastor's wife, the one I love to share coffee with when we are in St. John,  our Prayer Warrior, the best Granny any granddaughter would be so blessed to have, and so much more.

I am thankful for the legacy of faith that we share and the wonderful bond of love and friendship.

and I am so thankful for these two in the middle who made me a mom too.  What a precious gift my family is!

I have posted this image before....I can't believe it is 4 years old...wow the time flies!  Happy Mother's Day, Mom.  I love you so much!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms I have been so blessed to photograph!  You are dearly loved!

The "A" Family {A Sneak Peek}

I was so thrilled to meed this family in person.  Their beautiful mommy and I have been emailing and messaging back and forth trying to find the perfect Family Portrait date.  We couldn't have asked the good Lord for a more beautiful day!  Oh, God is so good!

Happy Mother's Day!  Such a sweet image:

I love seeing personalities shining through here.  We had just found a Horned Toad and their little ones could hardly stand not holding it in every image.  Ha! My Mr. Incredible managed to hold the Horned Toad behind my camera.  Can you tell?  :-)

Precious moment with their daddy:

I smile every time I see this image.  His sweet little hand on his sister for support, his tongue sticking out. He was ready to take his boots off.  Big sister expressions~priceless!

Beautiful big sister posing like my Senior Girls:

And I would chase this little guy around all day to capture his sweet smile:

I have so many more images ready in their gallery....and I can hardly wait to share them with this family!

Sweet Baby Evan {A 3 Month Sneak Peek}

This precious 3 month old and his big brother and gorgeous mommy came to see me.  I cannot believe how much he has grown in three months.   He is cooing and smiling and busy, busy. Delight!

I could have titled this post, "The Many Faces of Evan."

He has the best expressions!

See what I mean?

And this one makes me giggle every time! What a happy little guy! So much cuteness wrapped up in such a tiny package.

Love is spelled E-V-A-N.  Sweet, happy feet:

Bountiful Basket

My Sister-in-law enlightened me to the world of Bountiful Baskets.  And I am hooked.  I have been too busy to make the 25 minute trek on Friday evening or Saturday morning to pick up my basket, but this week I made time to place an order. They have rhubarb.  Rhubarb! Oh, that brings back wonderful memories of my mom's Rhubarb dish.  Yum!

Summer baskets are some of my favorites.  Hands down, I adore their granola!

Add in some fresh blueberries and I am one happy girl!

Here is more information, if you are interested:  http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/

***Update: I totally missed it!  I was too late, all of the baskets were spoken from before noon today.  I guess other BB fans were excited about Rhubarb too.  I'll be quicker next time, I hope!

Landon {Class of 2013 Sneak Peek}

It's the busy Senior Season. I am thrilled that his mom and I were able to find the perfect date. He is a man of few words but was a joy to get to know.  Landon will attend Texas A&M in the fall. Enough with the chit chat and on with the images:
