Welcome

Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am so honored by your visit today. My name is Kristi and I am married to my college sweetheart(I refer to him here as "Mr. Incredible"), momma to my 2 beautiful girls who are growing much too quickly, a high school computer teacher, photographer, and a gardener (at times~right now I'm growing weeds). I love to laugh, drink strong Starbucks coffee, take pictures, and be anywhere my family is. Jesus is my Savior and I try so hard to be the wife and momma that He has called me to be. I often fail but He lovingly picks me up, dusts me off, and encourages me that with Him all things are possible. Feel free to join me on this journey of faith, stop in and say hello, look around, and leave a comment~I love comments. Why "Kiki's Corner?" My nephews call me Aunt Kiki and I love that too.

Not Just for the Birds

***Update: Rachel had a wonderful day yesterday. Her color was back and she smiled and laughed a little bit again. We were hopeful that the medicine was finally beginning to work.

Today is not good. Her color is fading and the headaches are severe...and she is crying a lot more than I have seen her cry in days. Needless to say, I did call the doctor and I am waiting for a call back.
I believe we need to try something else- a different medication. I'm clinging to this verse today. Rachel is of far more worth to the Father than this bird. Please, pray that the right treatment will be given and for quick relief.
Thank you!

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Matthew 6:26

I haven't told you about my feathered friend. I met him last winter. He came back this year. I know it's the same bird, it just has to be.

Every morning when I draw back the drapes and start to get ready for the day, I hear his gentle tapping on my palladium window. He arrives withing a few minutes of the drapes opening every morning. With his little beak he taps on the window just waiting for me.

My family has started to call him my bird. If they hear him at the window someone always says, "Momma, your bird is back." Poor little thing, it flits around in despair, hits the window, and walks on the ledge just waiting.

I'll go to the window and sing him a song. This morning I sang "Amazing Grace." I think he liked it because he sat really still and just looked at me. It's the sweetest thing.

God is using this little bird to teach me a valuable lesson. I just have to share it with you. Maybe you can relate too.

Look at what is waiting close by for my bird:

They look harmless don't they? But, I know my mouser cats; they would devour my little bird in an instant. My bird knows this too.

As I watched him crash into the window over and over again and as I watched him flutter in despair, it seemed God began encouraging me that I looked just like my bird this past Monday.
See him coming in for a crash landing?

I was running around my house feeling very helpless trying to care for Rachel. I did look just like my bird. God reminded me that He loves us dearly and that if He cares for this bird, how much more does He care for us. None of Rachel's circumstances have slipped from His sight.

I went on to read Matthew chapter 13. Verses 31 and 32 say:
"The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that
THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES."

I needed to stop fretting and worrying and stressing and just rest in His branches, His hands.
I know this picture is a little blurry, but look at the bird in the branches of my nearby tree:

He looks perfectly calm, doesn't he?
Even with the cats below, he is perfectly calm.

Even in the midst of all of the uncertainties and unknowns, I can rest in His hands too.
Don't you just love that? How timely God is.

I am so thankful for His great love for us and for lessons learned from a little bird.

Joyfully,
Kristi

Kristi,

I also picked the verse in Matthew as my WFW. In the last year since my sister was diagnosed with the brain tumor, one thing we have held is God already knows what the results will be. He is in control. It is a lot easier said than done to have perfect peace. But with prayer from you and all the people who care about Rachel and your family, it can be accomplished. He is holding Rachel and your family in the palm of his hand.

Take Care,
Cheryl

Kristi,

I keep thinking of the scripture in Isaiah 41:10 and thinking of you in God's hands 'His righteous right hand'..and I think that there are no hands more capable and secure! Rest, my sister.

We are praying for your Rachel. Josh has also asked for prayer for her from his youth group and they are a great bunch of praying kids. (I suffer from migraines and he just can't imagine a young girl his age having to deal with headaches like that)

Hugs to you today, sweet sis. Wish we could sing to you...like you sang to your bird this morning and your could feel our love coming your way. ((hugs)) will have to do!

Hi Kristi, what a beautiful heartfelt post.

My son suffers from headaches as well, not too severe but headaches nevertheless so I can understand just a bit what your Rachel is facing. (I have a Rachel too :)

My son was sick (unrelated to the headaches) and had to have an operation this past summer. God gave me Philipians 4 6 & 7 as comfort verses.

I have always read verse 6 which talks about not being anxious about anything, but HE cause my focus to shift to verse 7 which said, (in essence) in the midst of it all, allow His peace to guard and rule our hearts and minds.

Sickness is a time when fear can rule, but God promises that if we bring everything to Him by prayer and supplication, His peace will be the ruler in our lives.

My prayer for your family at this time, is that the peace of God will become the guard of your hearts and minds.

I will be praying for Rachel.

Blessings,
Vickie

What a beautiful post! I have been reading your posts for a couple of weeks now. Please know that I have been praying for Rachel and your family. I am such a visual learner and today's post created such a beautiful vision to remind me of God's soverienty (did I just spell that right? My day just all of a sudden seemed kinda long!) Your attitude through Rachel's current health struggle is so encouraging. Thank you for sharing.

Oh My dear Kristi and sweet Rachel,

My prayer is a little late for helping Rachel today with this severe pain but I know that this image of the "bird" and your words
have spoken to Him on your behalf and hers...she is more valuable!

I hope the treatment & medication
have brought some relief and very soon they find the right one to alleviate this severe excruciating pain. I know that God has a plan for Rachel...as my verse claimed and does not want harm to come to her...but His ways and thoughts need to become ours. You are doing all you can...hold on as He holds you and Rachel. This was aMazing!
Your photos of your little bird
truly touches me and when I watch the small birds here, I will think of Rachel & pray...for her Heavenly Father to ease her pain & bring her His healing balm & that answers will come soon with wisdom & His grace! I love how you ended with that God has brought you to a place
of rest & may you go back to this to remind you and reassure you of HIS REST & PEACE inspite of the uncertainties! Hold on! Cling!Trust
