Welcome

Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am so honored by your visit today. My name is Kristi and I am married to my college sweetheart(I refer to him here as "Mr. Incredible"), momma to my 2 beautiful girls who are growing much too quickly, a high school computer teacher, photographer, and a gardener (at times~right now I'm growing weeds). I love to laugh, drink strong Starbucks coffee, take pictures, and be anywhere my family is. Jesus is my Savior and I try so hard to be the wife and momma that He has called me to be. I often fail but He lovingly picks me up, dusts me off, and encourages me that with Him all things are possible. Feel free to join me on this journey of faith, stop in and say hello, look around, and leave a comment~I love comments. Why "Kiki's Corner?" My nephews call me Aunt Kiki and I love that too.

Pink Pentas

My sweet hubby surprised me with a Lensbaby Composer a few months ago. It was a wonderfully thoughtful gift...but the Lensbaby and I are having a hard time getting to know one another. Do you have a lensbaby for your camera?  A Lensbaby is a manual lens that helps you find, "Creative freedom designed to bend the rules back in your creative favor to help you reframe possibilities and confound expectation."  Sounds easy enough.  But, it's really not easy at all, it is challenging at best.  So, with this week's texture challenge I thought I would try using my Lensbaby one more time...and this time I am quite somewhat pleased with the results.

For all you Photoshoppers, here is the recipe for my photo:
I have some beautiful pink Pentas just waiting to be planted in my garden, but first I snapped a few pictures using my Lensbaby Composer.  Next, I used KK's Canvas Back texture in soft light mode, duplicated the texture layer again but this time used Multiply mode and left it at 100% opacity (Just ignore my instructions if this is all Greek to you).  I then added a postcard background, and used KK's new texture Aurora over the top of my image (I liked the textured writings on the sides).  Thank you for the free textures, Kim. You are so talented.

And lastly, I added Isaiah 40:8 in a new text layer. Because it's H-O-T in our part of Texas, these beautiful flowers will wither and fade no matter how much I water them or even if they manage to get fertilized.  I am so thankful that the Word of God never withers or fades, rather it endures forever!

I love Pentas. They have such beautiful little flowers. I like the effect the Lensbaby gives to your image. Nice use of texture too.

I have no idea what you're talking about (and I'm okay with it) but your picture is absolutely beautiful.
Have a super fantastic day!

The warping on the edges really pulls your eye toward the center of the bloom. This is a very cool effect! Great job on the textures, too -- a lovely image.

I love pentas! My boys get me one for Mother's Day some years.

I was going to ask if this was recent b/c I haven't seen any bright colorful flowers too often lately in this HEAT!!

Very pretty!
