Welcome

Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am so honored by your visit today. My name is Kristi and I am married to my college sweetheart(I refer to him here as "Mr. Incredible"), momma to my 2 beautiful girls who are growing much too quickly, a high school computer teacher, photographer, and a gardener (at times~right now I'm growing weeds). I love to laugh, drink strong Starbucks coffee, take pictures, and be anywhere my family is. Jesus is my Savior and I try so hard to be the wife and momma that He has called me to be. I often fail but He lovingly picks me up, dusts me off, and encourages me that with Him all things are possible. Feel free to join me on this journey of faith, stop in and say hello, look around, and leave a comment~I love comments. Why "Kiki's Corner?" My nephews call me Aunt Kiki and I love that too.

Tackling A Whole Lotta!

Whew! What a weekend we had. We were band parents Friday night at the out of town football game. I haven't ridden a big yellow bus since, well last year's band parent assignment. This year the new bus had a/c and we were thankful!

Apparently the cool thing to do if you are a freshman is see how many skittles you can cram into your mouth at one time. One little darling won with 100 skittles. Impressive!
The game was fun even though our team lost. I enjoyed sitting next to my sweetheart while trying to figure out the game. There are so many rules. And too bad for the fans, one of the coaches did not split his pants this week. There went our entertainment!

Hannah received her flute this week and she is so excited about playing in the 6th grade band. There are all sorts of wind like sounds coming from my house. Hannah is playing her Aunt Sissie's flute and Rachel has been playing her daddy's saxophone for the last 5 years. I may try to accompany them on the piano if they will only play twinkle twinkle or chopsticks! LOL

Here is a picture of Hannah and her flute:
Our church has wanted to start a new children's worship for 1st and 2nd graders for the last year. Our family has had the fun of being involved in the preschool worship time and we were excited about helping with the new ministry. The materials came in two weeks ago, a few days before school started. I started to stress about my 15 hour course load at school and teaching in this new children's worship. Honestly, I have been just trying to keep my head above water for the last 2 weeks of school and I didn't have a lot of time to devote to the new children's worship literature.

This past Saturday, the day before it started, God blessed me with time to decorate my room and get my thoughts together. The girls and I had fun decorating. Since I can't paint on the wallpapered walls, I purchased several fun posters and we had fun hanging those and rearranging the room. I wanted a cool entrance to our room but knew that I just did not have any time to make something special (which I just LOVE to do). I felt like God was asking me to trust Him, so I did. Here is what we found in our leftover VBS storage room:

We made these decorations years ago. My mom made Toucan Sam and my dad built the frames for the doors. They fit perfectly in our entrance and became a cheery welcome to our new Children's Worship. How great of God to provide such fun!

The curriculum we are using is called Elevate and it is FANTASTIC! It brings back the joy and wonder of coming to church. This 8 week adventure is On the Trail, a Texas cowboy/cowgirl theme and it is a blast.

Rachel had a fun project to do over the weekend for an English assignment. She needed to make a foot no longer than 24 inches and decorate it with things that represented her. I enjoyed my morning coffee while she put her foot together. Here is her finished foot:

Her personalized items included: Skillet (favorite Contemporary Christian Band), Baylor (sic 'em bears!), basketball, guitar hero, three musketeer candy bar, Pocahontas (favorite movie), picture of our trip to St. John, USVI, ski trip picture, saxophone, Air 1, Jesus, our Disney World family picture, school mascot, Mission Arlington banner, musical notes, and Lil K (by Kidmo which is the curriculum we use in the Preschool Worship where Rachel helps w/ puppet shows).

I'll save Sunday's details for my Thankful Thursday post. Have a blessed day!
