Welcome

Welcome to my little corner of the world. I am so honored by your visit today. My name is Kristi and I am married to my college sweetheart(I refer to him here as "Mr. Incredible"), momma to my 2 beautiful girls who are growing much too quickly, a high school computer teacher, photographer, and a gardener (at times~right now I'm growing weeds). I love to laugh, drink strong Starbucks coffee, take pictures, and be anywhere my family is. Jesus is my Savior and I try so hard to be the wife and momma that He has called me to be. I often fail but He lovingly picks me up, dusts me off, and encourages me that with Him all things are possible. Feel free to join me on this journey of faith, stop in and say hello, look around, and leave a comment~I love comments. Why "Kiki's Corner?" My nephews call me Aunt Kiki and I love that too.

Little Miss Holly-wood!

Last night this sweet pea and I had so much fun feeding ducks, looking for a baby duck, avoiding ants, and talking about school and her best friend Ella-Bella. She wore the coolest feathers in her hair for our photo shoot and she had the wiggliest tooth that is so ready to come out.  I can't get over how much she has grown  since our photo shoot last summer. I loved every second. I hope Miss Holly-wood and her momma and daddy enjoy their sneak peek:

Last year, a little butterfly came to play during our photo shoot.  This year, it was a baby dragonfly.  Delight!

Another Commercial that Makes Me Giggle

I love a good commercial and this one cracks me up everytime. It totally made me remember to pick up Doritos at the grocery store. We tried the new Stadium Nacho flavor~delicious! If you are ready for a little giggle, check this out:

And then go see my friend Kim for more Friday Funnies.

FIESTA

Last week our school district along with community sponsors held our first annual Fiesta which stands for, "Family Involvement Encourages Students to Achieve."  It was a sultry 106 degrees but so many administrators, teachers, school staff, community supporters, students and their families came to participate.

There were a lot of fun blow up games, a dunking booth with the head of the Athletic department in the booth, pinatas, food, books, snow cones, and informational booths.  Here are a few pictures from the event:

One person explained that he was sweating so much, "He could grow rice."  Ha!  Yes, it was that hot, but what a fantastic first event!

I've Always Been a Bit Chicken....

...to make Chicken Fried Steak!  Really, I have.  Ever since my sister-in-law and I nearly burned my house down when we were frying tortillas in oil on the stove (remember that, Melissa?), I've avoided frying anything in a skillet on my stove with anything containing hot oil.

Plus, our new house (new since the last frying incident 11+ years ago) has gas burners.  So, I've always been afraid of trying that.  I know, lame!

Last week, I thawed out some round steak to make a spectacular Swiss Steak recipe (thank you, Mom) in my crock pot.  But, I forgot to put it in the crock pot that morning.  Oiy!  Ever been there?

So, my mind got creative and I came up with Chicken Fried Steak...and then I remembered it would involve a hot pan on my gas burners and smoking hot oil...and I nearly chickened out!  I ran the idea by the girls and they were both willing to help.  If you are going to burn your house down by cooking it is best to not do it by yourself.  Ha!

So, after much prayer and a quick recipe from Pioneer Woman's cook book, we began the chicken fried steak process.  It was fun and messy.  I carefully watched my oil heat up, tested it with a little flour to make sure it was hot enough, debated in my head if it should actually catch on fire should I douse it with flour or baking powder or soda (I still don't know), decided to just put the lid on it and turn off the heat if flames ensued, and then carefully plopped in some finely coated round steak.

Twenty minutes later, we enjoyed the most delicious chicken fried steak complete with homemade gravy, homemade mashed potatoes, broccoli, and key lime pie.  Yum!  The best part?  No out of control flames or calls to 911.  Hallelujah!

Oh, Those Eyes!

This week's theme is, "Eyes."  My mind instantly thought of these gorgeous baby blues.  This little guy is growing so quickly....and his eyes seem to get bluer and bluer.  I can't imagine that he ever gets in trouble.  One flash of those baby blues and it's over...maybe he will use his super powers for good, right Laci?

I Want to Be in the Light!

The girls and I were working on dinner, when Hannah called my attention to the glorious light that was streaming through our family room windows:

It was glorious light. We all stopped for a few minutes to simply bask in the beauty of it. I smiled, and thanked the Lord for allowing us to see just a small glimpse of His glorious creations and thankful that we didn't miss it.

The light reminded me of the song, "I Wanna Be in the Light...as You are in the light. I want to shine like the stars in the Heavens. Oh, Lord be my light and be my salvation; all I want is to be in the light."

Oh, what a Savior!

Quick Mini Session Before School Begins!

Oh, this Children's mini session is going to be so much fun!  There are only 5 spots remaining and...
I'm giving one spot away!  Yes, yes I am!  If you are local, or are in close driving distance, please leave me a comment telling me you would like to enter either here or on my facebook fan page.

The styled photo shoot will inlcude a Girl's dream tea party (come dressed in your favorite tutus, dress up costumes, or finest tea party attire) and a fun Cowboys and Indians set up (bring your play guns-minus the amo please, and finest western or indian wear). Or you can just take photos around my garden and field if you like.
