This past weekend I had the blessing of taking Brandon's senior pictures. Brandon is dear to our hearts and he hadn't taken any senior portraits. I offered to take some photos for him as my graduation gift to him.
He was a good sport~I took 137 pictures in an hour. Don't worry! I'm only posting a few of my faves. He started off in his football jersey on the high school football field:
And then I encouraged him to take a few pictures in the stands where his parents sat at every home football game:
He changed into a different shirt and we found a few spots in town to capture some random shots.
I like this picture of Brandon not only because it shows where he came from but also that his future is wide open and filled with choices:
I had fun applying a few fun photoshop effects to this photo:
Brandon started relaxing a bit when I reminded him of all of the times in class where he begged me to go to the locker room early. My answer was always "no" until one day.
It was after a big football win, and after he had finished his computer assignment, that he looked at me and asked once again to go to the locker room early. I told him sure but only if he won a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors...and to both of our surprises he won!
In this picture it looks like he is contemplating his future...dream big dreams for your life, Brandon, your Heavenly Father is.
We took a few pictures in front of a pond too:
and then at the railroad crossing:
It was a fun day! I am going to be taking another senior's portraits this week. Mr. Incredible smiled and said, "Are you getting paid to do this one?" to which I replied, "No" because it is my gift to these two seniors. And he just shook his head and smiled.
Here is where my question to you comes in!
I am kind of thinking... about possibly trying a little part time photography business...but I'm not sure. It sounds funny even saying it out loud~hello insecurity!~and especially writing it on my blog. What do you think?...honestly....I can take it...I think! Okay, I can take it...tell me what you think, please! You can leave me a comment or send me an email which is kristiatkikiscorner@gmail.com Thanks for your help in the matter. I love you more than my new shoes!

Those are wonderful pictures. You can tell he started to relax a bit.
And to answer your question I think you should go for it. I'm not a pro and I actually LOVE straight out of the camera photos but I see that you have a great eye for detail.
My friend started doing that and she is doing really well and making good money at it!!
Keep us up to date on what you decide!!

Hey lady! Great photos my friend! How precious that you took these and will take another as a gift to these sweet seniors! You definitely have a great eye for photography...I say go for it! One of my sister's closest friends just started a photo business earlier this year and she's already quite busy! = ) Let us know what you decide to do!
What a special gift for this senior! These are wonderful. I liked how you shared your thoughts behind the various poses too.
I totally say go for it too! You are very good at it and I can tell it is something you love! And I'd totally love for you to take Caleb's pictures (If we were in your area that is!!!)
Seriously...you DO need to do this as a side job!! Speaking as a Mom of a young man who is graduating....there needs to be more choices for graduation pictures..other than from those who charge a zillion dollars.
I know..I know...I get it...it's their job..and they need to make a living. But, I also know that where I come from...a senior packet can cost between 200-800 and that's just too over the top!
You do amazing work....and I'd support you 100%. Ha..what support....I don't know anyone I could send your way. lol
oh my YES!!! you are so very good! only wish we lived closer so you could capture my family in picture memories. . . . .
DO IT....This coming from someone who wants to do the same thing...its scary though, I know. But your photos look awesome, and you should be proud of them!
Here's food for thought:
“I would much rather have regrets about not doing what people said, than regretting not doing what my heart led me to and wondering what life had been like if I'd just been myself.” -Brittany RenĂ©e
Great job. I work at a local high school & have been doing senior pics since 2008 for seniors who can't afford the "big photo studio" prices. I absolutely love doing it & spending time with the kids, it give me a chance to get to know them better.
I charge enough to cover my time & few expenses, but the main part is to make the kids' happy.
If I can do, so can you!!!
You do an amazing job taking photos and really capturing the moment. I say go for it, girl!
These pictures are amazing! You totally can do this as a business. Take a step of faith!!!
