Would you like to see my vegetable garden?
Do you remember how we started and designed it last year?
If you don't that's ok, just click here
to see before and after pictures of our raised vegetable garden.
Here are a few transplants awaiting planting:
Apparently, the Bermuda grass was busy seeding itself in my raised beds this winter and just had a wonderful time growing in my garden while I was away.
And a zucchini too!
We put down mulch in each bed to hopefully keep the Bermuda away:
Do you see the little jalapeno?
Yay! I have a couple of tomatoes starting to grow:
This bed looks much better:
The above picture was in May. Everything was planted and carefully watered and then we went on our wonderful vacation. We heard that our little corner of Texas was blessed with abundant rain while we were away.
We drove home to see our garden looking like this:

This was growing in the rock paths too...it's a cantaloupe and it seeded itself too. This I like, the Bermuda grass...not so much:
It took the girls and I most of the week, but this is how my garden looks now:
Would you like to join me for a little walk through my garden?
It looks like several squash need picking:

And a beautiful flower in my herb bed:
The lavender is in full bloom:
And the basil is delicious in homemade pizza:
This is what we picked along the way: squash, zucchini, and fresh mint for tea.

Love your garden. Digging in the soil is great therapy. Thanks so much for swinging by to see the Beach Themed Tablescape. I'm a bit slow in getting around after loosing power due to a storm..I appreciate your visit and kind comments...hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteI so wish I had a green thumb like you. I have garden envy! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful garden. I have a small one myself and it is currently getting overwhelmed with watermelon and cantaloupe!
ReplyDeleteI live in Tx too and those guys just love this heat! Me....not so much!
I'm so jealous of your beautiful veggies & plants! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! Oh, I'd love to have some of the fresh produce right now. YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do a Fall garden this year...cooler and easier to maintain for this HOT Texas lady. :)
You have found some fun new blog memes to be part of!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the walk through your garden. My husband wants to do a raised bed.
Turn your back for a second and the weeds do take over. Ours grow all year long, even when it is too cold to go out and work in the wet soil those aggressive weeds and grasses keep on growing and growing just like the energizer bunny.
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise to come home to. I hear everything's bigger in Texas and your garden sure has some nice healthy plants in it. I love how everything looks so neat in the raised beds. I bet they are easier to manage!
ReplyDeleteLove your garden pics, Kristi!
ReplyDeleteWe've got that think going with all the grass growing in the flower beds, too! Maybe it's a Texas thing this year?? :)
Beautiful! Hard labor brings rewarding results... I can almost smell the basil!
ReplyDeleteHolymoses, bet you coulda cried to see all that bermuda huh? Well, my straw hat's oFF to you and the girls coz you did a smashing job weedin! That's a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteI get bermuda growin up in my railroad tie bed as well. It's always a battle. Now in the spring, I weed it really good, and then when I plant, I lay down several layers of old newspaper- then I throw old hay ontop to hold it down. The rain soaks thru the hay n newspaper and over the summer the newspaper slowly breaks down. Come fall, I till it under and it just keeps helping the soil. It's amazing what will still try to grow through, but what does is weaker and easier to pull. How other people do it, I'll never know, coz no matter what I try, in time ... here comes the bermuda. If you find anything wonderful that works well, let me know k?!
Your veggies look great! I'm hungry for some fried squash about now, with lotsa salt n paprika!
Sweet dreams,
L
Your garden grows great ! I loved raised planters....I want some !
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how wonderful it will look at harvest time !

I love gardens! I hope to have some form of a garden next year... or maybe a little one later this summer! I kill plants indoor, but love plants outdoors. Go figure! I have missed everyone... I hope to get back together with everyone soon. God bless you dear friend. How is everyone doing?
ReplyDeleteOh what a lovely garden. They are a lot of work but there is nothing that tastes like home grown. We are temp. in Fl and it is impossible to grow things here-nothing tastes home grown because of the sand and since we won't be here long term (hubby is almost done with school and can start looking for a job) we aren't doing any beds like that but I sure can not wait to have a home grown tomato whenever we get moved and settled.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will come for a visit and stay and chat. I have a give away going on all month.

Your garden is looking great. We attempted our first garden this year. Hubby built a mobile garden. So far, so good. But nothing like yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the walk in your garden! I'm trying to not be jealous of how many veggie beds you have, but then I must remind myself that is seven times more to take care of!
