I've just loved reading your sweet comments this week about our back to school week. Oh, how you bless me.
I ran into a friend yesterday at school who told me about her summer and things she was facing. We don't have any classes together so it was such a joy to get to see her in the hall between classes. She commented about how I had it all together...what? Is that really what you think?
The only thing I have together is that my salvation is secure and it's really Jesus who has that covered, not me. If you have read my blog, you know I don't have it all together. I'm just trying to be the wife and mother that God has called me to be. My profile says it all, "I often fail, but He lovingly picks me up, dusts me off, and encourages me that with Him all things are possible."
So to keep it real...I have to tell you...even though I'd rather not....I sent my baby to school without a lunch or lunch money yesterday and I didn't even realize it until 12:30. Oiy! Mother of the year! This was only the SECOND day of school, people! I'm just a mess about the whole thing. I called Mr. Incredible between classes to get some support (meaning permission to check myself into the rubber room in the city down the road). He just laughed. Laughed! When he didn't hear my laughter, he quickly quipped, "It's okay baby, I'm sure she didn't starve." Ugh!
Fortunately, God took care of her lunch needs and the sweet cafeteria ladies let her charge her meal. Hannah wasn't the least bit upset. She was taken care of and she knew it. I on the other hand, felt terrible. Food is a basic need people! (Just so you know, I sent enough lunch money to cover at least a month's worth of lunches this morning. My baby should be fine...at least for a month!)
So, in case you are one of the tens of people that think I have it together...there ya go!
I was reminded of a scripture this morning, "I desire to do your will, O my God;" Psalm 40:8.
Yes, Lord I desire to do Your will. This is why I am so desperately trying to finish school like He called me to do. But in the craziness of taking 5 English classes (3 senior level and 2 junior level) in the same semester I'm already a mess. He knows my heart's desire is to do His will and He will certainly help me accomplish what He is equipping me to do. I'm just asking the Holy Spirit to whisper a little louder next time when it comes to feeding my children LUNCH!
I better get myself to class. Thanks for blessing me by stopping by. If you have it all together, I'd love to know how you do it and if you have a Mother of the Year story, I'd be so pleased to read it if you don't mind keeping it real!
Joyfully,
Kristi
Kristi,
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how many times I have heard those same words in my life and had those same feelings! I think what people misinterpret is our DESIRE to please the Lord and do things right. But keeping it real and relying on God's grace and humor in the midst of when we blow it is such a great adventure! God bless you in your endeavors!!!
I think you're doing great my friend. We all have "days" but the good thing is there is ALWAYS a new day just around the corner! I could give plenty of stories of where I blew it lol. I'm sure slowly but surely they will come out in a blog or two.
ReplyDeleteBlessings my friend.
Hi Kristi - Oh how I have used that phrase so many times over the years. Forgotten lunches, lunch money, pick ups, pick up other kids, teddy bears on teddy bear day when all the other kids brought theres, etc. So forget it, mother of the year was taken a long time ago by this woman!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have so had my fair share of "mother of the year" moments...all in one week I locked Brea in the car, she rolled off the bed, and she got ring worm...I was feeling great! She was about 4 months old and since then I have kept up the excitement.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that you can meal plan, have fun, care for your family, and take 5 ENGLISH courses...my goodness. You are doing great!
Krista,
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain! Doesn't that say it all! I know where you are coming from!
You are doing great!
